LXD is a system container manager. In addition, LXD 5.0 on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS offers enhanced support for virtual machine functions such as vTPM and many devices hotplug.

For those unfortunate users who must use Windows on Ubuntu, this session provides how to install Windows without purchasing a new PC.

Short introduction of our team, explaining the difference between normal PCs which Linux x86_64 is targeted on and 2018 or newer Macs with T2 chip which are very different despite using same Intel CPU, our efforts trying to get Linux run on those Macs, including but not limited to reverse engineering, writing kernel module, building and automating supporting packages for multiple distros including Ubuntu. Linux Kernel Networking Stack is an open-source project that is developing protocols and functions between Layer 2 and Layer 4 of the OSI Model. As networks account for a large portion of the cloud, various networking technologies are being developed. However, the entry barrier for contribution is so high that you wonder, “Is Linux Kernel Networking Stack really an open-source project?” Most of all, unlike major open source projects, in which Kubernetes and OpenStack are developed through GitHub, using their own git makes it difficult from downloading the source code to write the PATCH. Based on your experience as a Contributor to Linux Kernel, this session introduces the packet handling process of the Linux Kernel Networking Stack and the latest major modules and shares the development culture and development process of the Linux Kernel. Through this, many developers want to break down the initial barriers to entry into Linux Kernel Countryview and provide a guide to challenging their first contribution.

Based on the following table of contents, this session introduces the key technologies, development cultures, and development methods of Linux Kernel Networking Stack.

1. Understanding the Linux Kernel Networking Stack Briefly introduce what Linux Kernel is, learn how the Linux Kernel Networking Stack handles packets, and learn about the main technical concepts of the project for contribution .

2. Linux Kernel Development Culture Introducing Linux Kernel’s unique development culture (Repository, Release Cycle, Tree, Review Process, etc.

3. Develop Linux Kernel Networking Stack Based on actual contribution examples, introduce how to contribute to Linux Kernel Networking Stack (environment configuration, contribution type, how to create PATCH, etc.).

Kubernetes was started inside Google to provide a layer of abstraction with containers for modern infrastructure. The technology has now been adopted by the masses and has become a de-facto standard for any cloud-native application. The open-source system provides management, deployment, and scaling of your containers.

This workshop uses microk8s, the simplest production-grade conformant K8s that you can install on a Kubernetes cluster locally to deploy a simple Python application that you create first using manifests and then using Helm charts, which you will create.

This process may seem daunting, but I promise it is not! Python is a great language for beginners and experienced programmers alike. And once you get the hang of it, deploying your application with Docker and Kubernetes is a breeze.

So, let’s get started! I will first show you how to create a simple Python application. Then, we will dockerize it and run it as a container. After that, we will push it to our built-in image registry from microk8s and deploy it to Kubernetes. Finally, we use the helm support in microk8s to create helm charts to help manage and deploy our application while understanding Helm.

Unlike WSL1, WSL2 comes wiht real Linux Kernel and it enables many more tasks that was not possible with WSL1. Working with Deep learning with CUDA also got much better on WSL2. In this talk, Let’s see how we’ve been used CUDA on WSL in past. And How it got better and different on WSL2 environment by understanding architecture of WSL2 and CUDA. After that, I’ll show you how you can install CUDA without Docker on WSL 2 and running deep learning code applicates GPU acceleration on the WSL2 CUDA environment we configured with some demonstrations.

As the upcoming cloud technology, WebAssembly (Wasm) has attracted attention. To handle important backend functions, WebAssembly, also known as WASM, is transitioning from a portable contained browser runtime.

The language neutrality, cross-platform/architecture support, security sandbox, small binary sizes, and excellent performance of WebAssembly make it a promising technology. Taking advantage of these advantages, several of us have started creating Wasm solutions that are cloud-based and run on servers rather than web browsers.

What makes it so interesting is the fact that the WASM container is secure, efficient, portable and fast - at least on the paper it looks like the better implementation of containers.

Wasm is incorrectly marketed as a “replacement for Docker,” whereas Wasm actually strengthens Docker. It has some capabilities that Docker (Linux Containers) lacks but lacks many of the features that have long made Linux Containers the most desirable method of creating cloud applications.

Wasm is introduced in this session, which emphasises its potential in cloud environments. Then, we demonstrate how Wasm applications can be installed, developed built and deployed in Ubuntu based environments. The session will show use of the CNCF sandbox project WasmEdge (an open source WebAssembly Runtime) as an example to discuss how to install, build and deploy WebAssembly apps inside of Ubuntu environments thus showing how the power couple of Ubuntu Containers and WebAssembly work hand in hand.

The standard installer script for WASMEdge, on its Github can be used to install WASMEdge on any Linux Distro including Debian and Snap based.

Then you can also use the build script (again part of the Github open source repository) to build it into either of Debian or Snap based on your current Ubuntu environment in which you are building the app.

For deployment there is support for being able to run WASMEdge with Krustlet which is another open source project which allows kubelets to run WASM in Kubernetes. Thus allowing you to deploy your WASMEdge app to Microk8s, Minikube etc. (https://github.com/second-state/krustlet-wasmedge-provider)

I am working as an executive in the computer central club of the school. Among the executives, as one of technology-related executives, I contribute to the club by maintaining various services (GitLab, Wiki, Mail, etc.) used by members and the Backoffice that executives use for club management.

A few months ago, requests began to come in steadily, saying, “I wish there’s a way to know who’s in the club room.” In fact, it was a difficult task unless equipping a camera, and mounting a camera was excluded due to various problems.

While we were thinking about this, what we considered was WiFi. Club members are always connected to WiFi when they visit the club room. If we can only know who is accessing this WiFi, we can know who is in the club room.

In this session, under the topic of “Who is in the club room right now?”, I would like to talk about the problems encountered in the process of planning and building the software and infrastructure for this project.
