Long time, no see PeerTube. In this video, I upgrade my workbench / secondary computer setup with a new case and SSD, and lightly discuss how me and my family have been working during the current lockdown period. I have plans to create a video dedicated to this topic on TheFake VIP2, so be sure to watch out for that.

I do want to upload videos more often on this channel and with the current global climate, I might just get my chance, though most of the reasons I haven't been more regularly uploading (mainly school work and some other programming projects) still apply. But anyway, that's a story for future videos. Enjoy!

Upgrading the Mac Pro to macOS Catalina

Quick Tip - Using Popup Buttons in Mac QT Apps (OBS, Virtualbox, etc)

If you've ever tried to use an application who's interface was written in QT on a Mac then you've likely come to the realisation that popup buttons (combo boxes for those not used to voiceover's way of announcing control roles) don't work in the conventional way. This quick tip tells you how to use them if you have to. Examples of where I've ran into these popups are in Virtual Box and OBS Studio.

Regardless of what operating system you use, arranging monitors to let the OS know what the physical arrangement of displays looks like is difficult at the best of times if you're visually impaired. This video shares just one solution that I use daily on Linux to achieve this.

Introducing the New Blind Computing Logo

@reallinfo on GitHub submitted this logo after I posted a tweet to twitter and a toot to mastodon, asking if anybody would be interested in creating a logo for the blind computing project.

A few weeks later, and we've now got it fully implemented into both the home page and readme file. Hopefully it will start to show up in other places in the future.

An Ubuntu Mate / mate-tweak Bug That We Should Fix

For my regular viewers, this video is simply to show the developers of mate-tweak what exactly is going on with a bug that came out of the blue in I believe ubuntu mate 17.04 (though I never tried 16.10 and can't remember if this only started with 17.10) where you can't switch categories with the screen reader. Random Access Review - ep4 - Ubuntu Mate 18.04 (beta)

In this video, I cover the changes and accessibility updates in ubuntu mate 18.04 beta 2, a prerelease version of Canonical's next gen, long term support distribution. Overall, there's not many new features, as the ubuntu mate team have worked on refinements to the mate desktop, but the new features are very nice nontheless.

We cover:

Brisk menu as default, as well as how to change the menu back to the traditional menubar.
mate-tweak's annoying bug that makes it harder to set settings
Setting compiz to start up by default
Firefox preferences dialog changes, as well as my newly overhauled website
An updated installer that's now once again accessible (pretty much)
