@mairin I've heard back from the Scribus project member - he said he's going to forward the info to one of the developers. He suspects it might be an incompatible version of some library that could be causing it.

@mairin If you have the option to compare - I'm using the official Ubuntu deb package (version 1.5.5) in Linux Mint 20.3. If/When I get a reply from the Scribus contributor, I'll let you know here.

@moini Thank you so much for all the helpful comments! I didn't know about the save svg as gpl trick! I would love any leads on the scribus slowness - I noticed it in both the flatpak from flathub and the fedora 35 packaged RPM.

Ugh 😦 That's odd that Scribus is so slow for you, I've never had that issue. I'll share the link to this video with someone in the Scribus project I know, maybe he has an idea that can help. Thank you for the video, Máirín!

10:20: If you want to use the file in Inkscape again, you'd use File > Save a Copy to export to PDF. But Inkscape will also warn you before you close the file.

9:05: Snapping the mesh nodes works, too, but restraining the direction while moving does not, so you'd need to prepare a good snap target first, by aligning a guide or sth.

The palette directory is also listed in Edit > Preferences > System (easier to remember)

Re Palette files: For those who don't need their colors names, there's also the option to save an SVG file as .gpl from Inkscape.
